Re: Intel I5 750 upgrade
I would recommend the ATi HD5750 over the Nvidia GT250. Their performance in games at your res will be nearly exactly the same, however the ATi is DX11 compatible. So you'll be able to turn on all the nice new visual goodies! And ATi drivers are waaaaayyy better than they were in the past. This i ca...

@ Prime: What did you end up getting? Are you happy with your choice?
Interested in your views, as a friend is thinking about buying one and has asked my advice.
Thx

@ Dae_ja_voo: I know you have probably done your homework about all the network operators, but i would recommend you to stay away from MTN. Ive been a MTN subscriber for roughly 2 years and 2 months now. Had no problems with them (apart from shoddy service every now and then, but it's africa and the...

Re: AMD vs. Intel
Tri-channel RAM on the i7 chips give you one HELLOFA memory bandwidth, but few real world apps use that level of bandwidth, so if you're a normal gamer/media person, you won't use the extra memory bandwidth nor will you really experience the speed increases that tri-channel brings. (this is all gath...

Have to agree with Starbound here, RA2 was the best in the whole C&C series for me. It was supremely balanced and there were soooo many ways of playing with the units (best unit - an allied APC filled with russian tesla troops, one sniper and a rocket launcher guy. Pure win!!). Yuri's revenge al...

Anybody in the Cape Town area can make use of Cyburbia (http://www.cyburbia.co.za). They are based in Somerset West. Good prices and quick service.
Also in the Johannesburg area Ikonicit (http://www.ikonicit.co.za). They also have great prices!

Where are you situated? Cause buying all these things from an online store would equate to a hefty postage/courier cost if you're in an outlying area. Just a thought... And the Hyper TX2 is indeed incompatible with the i5 (socket 1156). If im not mistaken, it might also have just gone EOL recently. ...

Re: Q9550 with GTX275, any alternitives to these two?
Hows about the ATi HD5770 ( Prophecy Shop )? There are shortages on nearly every HD5xxx series card, but i think you'll have less trouble getting one of these, than a 5850. Plus it's a cheaper option, without having to 'skimp' much on performance (the HD5770 is more powerful than the HD4870. Tom's H...

Re: Quick Gfx Question
Sapphire is one of the more well-known and widely used ATi brands. It's cheap, cause (in my experience) Sapphire doesn't bundle much extra goodies with their cards and they have a shorter warranty period than ASUS or Gigabyte (i think Sapphire's is 2 years. Under correction here...) But they aren't ...

So any other requests for the discs. We are looking at putting the Battlefield 2 1.5 patch on the disc since its 2GB which we know will kill most caps. + 1 definately! Have been trying to patch that badboy for a while now. Cap is such a bad idea... In fact, it's the worst idea since unsliced bread...

Re: Budget Rig - Your Opinions
Hi I noticed no one even mentioned the CPU. Isn't that going to be a huge bottleneck if you decide on getting a 9800GT or 4850? It looks like a Pentium D to me and those things arent that great when it comes to performance. You might consider a Core 2 E7200, 7300 or 7400. I remember looking at pric...

Re: Budget Rig - Your Opinions
Thanks for your suggestions and tips! I know that I would save money if I were to buy through online stores, but I am just too scared that I will miscalculate something when buying all of the different pc components and then I end up with a system that doesn't work. As I'm working really hard to ge...

EA are a bunch of money hungry bastids!!1!!1! They're probably planning on buying out some ISPs or freakin broadband lines, thus increase charges for internet use and thereby making a killing off of 'always-online' C&C4... (just a little doomsday scenario there). I'm sooooo over all the ****ing ...

Thank you to everyone! Did an update of my graphics drivers, re-installed DX9, updated keyboard drivers (just in case) and will be updating to SP3 soon (or re-installing XP). Re: Random, nameless minimised window
Oh yes, forgot to mention what happens when i shut down. Usually nothing out of the ordianry happened (except that i sometimes have to tell Windows twice to shut down. Think this might just be Windows being buggy or my keyboard drivers), but about a month ago, it started showing a blank window for a...
