Re: I am back!

We have trucks going out to these areas on a regular base. The best is to speak to our Pretoria West branch (012) 352 2000 and find out when they have a truck in the area. Normally there wont be a shipping charge if you are willing to wait when a truck is there.

Re: What do you think about this idea for a case window?

What about a digital print on a sandblast efect vinyl. Then applying the vinyl to a clear Plexi.

Stress can be released from the acrylic. After all the manufacturing (tapping, glueing, bending, etc...) the product must be heated up to the operating temperature (+80 deg C) and then kept at that temperature for a time (+/- 1 hour). The cooldown period is also extended to about 2+ hours. That shou...

Excuse my friend, he's a bit slow.

I was under the hammer (tapping) impresion.

Skidd, that is exactly what I mean. Just make sure that the groove is wider than the wall thickness of the tube. The effect that you get is a pool of glue where the tube sinks into.

Perspex is 10 times stronger than glass, but scratches easily.

DAE, sorry that we are hijacking your post.

All acrylic glues work similar. They break down the material and rebuild the acrylic to become one solid piece of acrylic.

Skidd, that will work, but make them bigger than the actual tube to allow the tube to be sunk into these blocks

Tensol 12 is a general glue, but isnt that strong.
When glueing tubes, you want your acrylic to be the same type. This means that the tube is extruded, you want to use extruded blocks for the bases and tops.
Extruded acrylic is best glued using Acryfix or Tensol 30.

Be carefull with acetone, the acrylic is extruded which puts a lot of stress on the material. Adding more stress (acetone) can cause the material to crack and start to leak. When doing a res, get thicker blocks for base and top. Cut a sicular groove into the block (size of tube) halfway into acrylic...

Doob,
The tubes are sized from 5mm OD & 3mm ID up to 300mm OD & 292mm ID.
Let me know what OD you require, we can guide you to the correct tube.

Check for any chemicals that might be in the cooling agent that you are using, could attack the acrylic.
