for a note book thats fine. I have been trying vista ultimate on a compaq evo n1050 with 512mb ram. very slow going back to the restore cd with XP.
but for my PC looks like retail is what i need, as i wanna upgrade the board and cpu soon too.

@Obituary Yeah i can buy one, but you can get free versions that do the same. I don't need all the bells and whistels, i don't need to change the colors of the board or pieces, i just need the game. I am actually teaching my daughter to play as she has joined the chess class in her school. I need so...

DSP vs Retail
With reference to the thread : vista ultimate x86 vs x64 : I contacted MS and they have confirmed, once the DSP version is activated it is tied to the HDD, MOBO and CPU. any change in these will result in a requirent to reactivate. If things go bad with any of these components, in all likely hood on...

well when it comes to the support side of things, retail maybe the way to go, however, their support centres aren't the best places to get help either. I generally find what i need support wise in a forum of sorts. My only concern with DSP is that i do not want to be locked into only being able to e...

Rayne.....Not cool Many of us noobs come to sites like this to get help. If you wanna be unwilling (even if it is a yes no answer) then rather don't post and let those who do wanna help have their say. Remember that even though it may be a yes no answer, there maybe a hidden question too. Not every ...

The only thing to know is you won't get support from ms from dsp copies. you have to get support from the system builder. And thats why the public can also buy dsp cop...

Rustypup >> Yet so many retailers are offering this as a way of selling DSP off to the unsuspecting consumer. Just as well i asked. Anyways, if i bought the Retail version, I would then be allowed to install the software on as many machines as i wish as long as it is only installed on 1 machine at a...
