Re: PSU Advice
I've got the Odin 585w, no issues with either electrical noise or any other noise, it's very quiet, and runs my overclocked E8500, 3 SATA hard drives, SATA DVD writer, 4 x 12 cm fans, GTX 260 core 216 with ease. My pc usually stays on for about 15 hours a day, and I've never noticed any noise from t...

Re: Gigabyte Odin 585w
I've got the odin 585w, never had any issues with it or any gigabyte power supplies. Use the power calculator to determine how big a psu you need. My graphics card is supposed to only run on a 40A rail as well but my power supply runs my rig perfectly.

Re: The Power for SLI?
This 1 seems quite highly regarded, I based my psu requirements on this and my pc worked fine:

By the way, what's the specs on the rest of the components i.e. CPU, RAM, MOBO, number of hard drives etc.

If I'm not mistaken (and I really well could be), running the 2 batteries in series will give you the same output as 1 x 24v battery.

Re: Best buget grapics card
Firestrm is right, if I wasn't an nvidia fan I'd have gotten either the HD 4850 or the HD 4870, both are extremely good cards, and priced quite close. I think the HD 4850 represents very good performance to value ratio as well....

Re: Motherboard woes - please help if you can
I have removed all devices, only install the CPU and cooler, and it does the same thing! No beeping, nothing! Even with NO RAM installed, it does exactly the same thing! But I also tried some cheap DDR2 667MHz RAM from my girlfriend's pc and that didn't make a difference. MY RAM is now being used i...

Re: Motherboard woes - please help if you can
That's the sad part, no warranty!! Someone suggested it could be a faulty bios battery, gonna change the battery tonight in the hope that it IS something that simple, but honestly, I doubt it!!

Motherboard woes - please help if you can
Need some help. I have an Asus P5E motherboard, it seems to have become faulty. When I switch the pc on, it comes on for about 5 seconds, you can see the CPU cooler fan spinning, then it switches off, the fan stops , and it repeats this continuously! I have removed all devices, only install the CPU ...

Should still be under warranty then?Zaphrox wrote: .... sad that the motherboard is less than 6 months old.
Any ideas??
Try another sound card (PCI or PCI-Express) and if that works, get the board RMA'd.

Re: Intel Sues Nvidia
They're still partners on the old design. nVidia claims that there was no stipulation that they couldn't work on the integrated mem CPU chipsets. nVidia is licensing SLI to Intel which would make them partners as well. It's not uncommon at all for partners to sue each other and remain partners afte...

Re: Best equipment to use for power surges etc
APC, Powercom and Meisener are all good UPS's although Powercom shreak when you turn them off assuming you can get them to turn off and not go into test mode. :x Second good piece of advice, try never to use your PC in a storm and if at at all possible, switch if off and unplug it when not in use. ...

yep, but the point I was trying to make is that it's customers like those that allow IC and others to overcharge customers!! They fall hook, line and sinker for these gimmicks which may seem SO obvious to a lot of other people!!RuadRauFlessa wrote:Printer costs R300 paper another R160. He should get his head checked.

A guy brought me a quote he got from IC about a year ago, wanted to know if I could build him a rig privately for a little less. The price on the quote was for R9500 excluding the monitor. I priced components for him, told him I could do it for R7500 including a 17inch LCD and I was gonna still make...

Re: Whats your favourite brand of motherboard and why?
I agree with Prime, never had any issues with Gigabyte boards, always seem to be stable. But then I'm talking about their S series boards, never had a high end Gigabyte board. My last board MSI P35 Neo was also very good, very stable. Only issue I had with it was I was unable to install WinXP to my ...
