I have a US Apple ID so I buy iTunes gift vouchers in US dollars and then load the code into iTunes. Exactly what I do. I have a Canadian account though. Yup. SE Android phones are just no good, especially for us lot who want to tinker and load custom ROM's etc... Indeed. Tinkering aside, though, e...

shiv: Yup, can do every one of those things. I use SSH to manage the entire file system and copy whatever I want to the iPhone storage. Using the iPhone as a modem over bluetooth with internet tethering works extremely well out of the box. That's how I connect remotely to my office when on standby....

Hmmm, you sound very anti iPhone, so I don't think you should even consider it. BTW, with my jailbroken iPhone I can do every single one of those little things you've mentioned, with almost no "hacking" and all for free. I don't often though, because they're honestly not important to me. ...

I don't actually. What are they? Well as an iOS and Android user I would recommend either, but I wouldn't buy an SE Android phone. Either HTC, Motorola or Samsung. N8 has decent hardware, but it means jack without good software, and Symbian is just about dead. *No USB mass storage mode - having to ...

Re: All about Smartphones and Tablets...
I wouldn't want a Symbian phone now even if it was free. What network are you on? If you're on Vodacom I'd wait for the Nexus S as it is coming to SA on Vodacom. If you're on MTN I'd go iPhone 4, because Vodacom still has no stock for months now. Heaven alone knows why they even list the iPhone on ...

I was going to get the Nokia N8, now I am not so sure anymore, given the recent developments.
I am considering the HTC Desire HD, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, or (cough) iPhone 4.
I just don't know!!!

Name a free alternative that offers the same (or close) features as IDM.
No nags, no ads, no annoying window pop ups, etc.
Have you tried it?

Re: Neat Stuff To Download
The best in my experience is Internet Download Manager (IDM).
Been using it for years, it's awesome!
The fastest in my opinion.
Supports integration in many browsers, can download YouTube videos, has a web site grabber, and more.
Free 30 day trial available.

Direct3D 10/11 Implemented on Linux -> better than OpenGL?
Bleh... will always be playing catch up, I am not convinced... Luca Barbieri made a commit with news of native Direct3D 10/11 support into Gallium, with an eventual goal of running Windows games in Wine. He added, "Thanks to a very clean and well-though design done from scratch, the Direct3D 10...

I have to ask... does your phone slow down when too much junk is installed? :P This is something I LOVE about Android. No matter how many apps I've got installed it never gets any slower. This problem affects Windows/Mobile (no surprise), and also Symbian.
But with Symbian, I think it's more because of the 10,000 processes sitting in memory and eating CPU, memory and battery.
